أشار المؤلف في مقدمة الإصدار إلى أن الهدف الذي دعاه لتأليف هذا الكتاب الحث على معرفة الطريقة الصحيحة لبر الوالدين وإصلاح العلاقة معهما بالمحبة اللازمة لنيل الرضا والبركة. حيث ضمنه عشرين قاعدة في نيل رضا الوالدين (كخارطة طريق، يساعد الابن، ليبقى في مسار اليمين السعيد، بعيدا عن مسار التجاوز الخطير، ليحافظ على نفسه ووالديه). أهدى الجرداني كتابه إلى (راحة البال والذكريات الجميلة، ونبع الحنان، وأنقى دروبي الخميلة، إلى قلب أمي، إلى روحها الطاهرة)، ويتضمن الكتاب مجموعة من العناوين من بينها (بر الوالدين والإيمان بالله) و( بر الوالدين في السنة النبوية الشريفة) و(قصص القرآن في بر الوالدين)، إضافة إلى عشرين قاعدة في البر، وكيف يمكن برهما بعد وفاتهما، مع حديث عن ثمرات هذا البر، وأضرار عقوق الوالدين.
