\"مسار قلم\" هي يوميات أبو القاسم سعد الله التي بدأ بكتابتها في القاهرة في فبراير/ شباط سنة 1956 مستندا في ذلك إلى العام 1960. وقبل اليومية كتب صاحب المذكرات افتتاحية تحت عنوان (بين يدي هذه اليوميات) ملخصا فيها ما عاشه منذ وصوله إلى القاهرة في 24 سبتمبر/ أيلول سنة 1955. ففي آخر كل يوم كان يكتب صفحة من المفكرة يلخص فيها ما قام به خلال النهار، ليعدل بعد ذلك من أسلوبه في كتابة هذه المذكرات منتهيا الأحداث الأهم التي يمر بها. وهكذا وعند حصوله على منحة الدراسة في الخارج في العام 1960 ترك حقيبة تضم شهاداته ويومياته وأوراقه عند أخيه علي سعد الله الذي كان يدرس الفلسفة في جامعة القاهرة، وهذه الحقيبة أنقذها أخوه حين جاء بها معه إلى الجزائر بعد تخرجه سنة 1964، وهي التي وجد فيها هذه المذكرات في أربع مفكرات. وقد تردد الكاتب طويلا في طبع مذكراته هذه إلا أنه قرر طبعها لما وجد فيها من فائدة للجيل الحاضر، علها تكون أكثر فائدة للجيل اللاحق الذي سيكون أكثر تعطشا للمعرفة عن تراث أجداده.
