يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى تحليل نقدي جمالي للتراث في الرواية السورية خلال العقد الأول من الألفية الثالثة، من خلال خمسة نصوص روائية مختارة لكل من خيري الذهبي، ومحمد أبو معتوق، وخليل صويلح، ولينا هويان الحسن، وشهلا العجيلي، تجلى فيها التراث بوصفه مكونا أساسيا تنهض عليه أحداث الرواية وترتبط به شخصياتها، كما يحيل عدد من الهوامش إلى بضع روايات تبرز فيها ظواهر تراثية لافتة ضمن مجرى أحداثها العام. ويهدف البحث إلى إبراز ما في الروايات من علاقات ذات صلة بالقيم الفلسفية الإنسانية كالجميل والجليل والقبيح والبطولي وما يتصل بها من مفاهيم وصفات، وهي تختلف بحسب درجة الوعي الجمالي لدى الشخصيات وعلاقاتها البيئية والمجتمعية والفردية، في إطار حضور التراث السمة البارزة في الروايات المدروسة.
