إن ظاهرة العدوانية ظاهرة قديمة قدم الإنسان على هذه الأرض، وهناك دلائل قرآنية مشيرة لوقوع ذلك السلوك العدواني، كما سجل القرآن أول عدوان حصل في حياة البشر هو العدوان القابيلي، والعدوانية ظاهرة إنسانية، فالإنسان هو القائم بالسلوك العدواني وهو المخطط له فنراه يتحايل على بني جنسه وعلى الطبيعة، إذن هو الكائن الذي يستطيع أن يقتل ويهدم ويشن هجوما لم يستفز من أجله، وهو من يستطيع أن يمارس عدوانية حقيقية، وبما أنه سلوك موجود في الماضي، واستفحل في الحاضر وعلى وفق إفرازات الحاضر ومعطياته تشير إلى احتمالية استمراره في ظل هذه الظروف وتزايد الدمار الفنائي، إن المنافسة هي من السلوكيات العدوانية التي تم رصدها في الرواية العراقية.
