هذا الكتاب ليس بحثا تاريخيا لكنه يضم فصولا فيها شيء من تاريخ التأمين الذي لم يكن ضمن اهتمامات العاملين والعاملات في قطاع التأمين العربي إلا قليلا. وما دفعني إلى جمعها هو محاولة استثارة العقول الشابة الأكاديمية والمهنية، ممن يحلمون ويتوقون إلى تطوير صناعة التأمين في أوطانهم، لولوج مجال البحث التاريخي في النشاط التأميني واكتشاف البيئات الاقتصادية والقانونية والاجتماعية التي كان التأمين يمارس في ظلها. وكذلك، ومن باب تجذير النشاط التأميني، اكتشاف الأشكال الأولية للتأمين وإدارة الخطر.
