ذئاب مانجو هو جيش كبير على رأسه (مونكو خان) -موفد شقيقه (هولاكو)- سار المغول إلى قتال الشعوب في أراضيها، انقضت به الخلافة العباسية، قهرت القرى والمدن ببطش جنود تزينوا بجلود وفراء الذئاب وصفاتها. وآن توغلهم في منطقة كردستان، أطلق الأكراد على هؤلاء العسكر اسم : الذئاب، وشكلوا صياغة اسم (مانكو خان) بالكردية وأصبح : (مانجو)، فتحولت التسمية الباطنية لجيش هولاكو ومونكو والمغول-إثر ذلك- لدى الكرد إلى : \"ذئاب مانجو\".فيما بعد، ولج هذا الاسم سياقا نفسيا لدى معظم النساء الكرد، فصرن يؤلفن ويقصصن حكايا عن تلك الذئاب على فلذات أكبادهن الرافضين النوم والموالين للمسامرة. مرت العقود والقرون الكثيرة على تلك الأرض وقد كبر أطفالها على جمل من هذا القبيل: \"نم قبل أن تخطفك ذئاب مانجو وتلتهمك. لا تخرج من البيت ليلا كي لا تخطفك ذئاب مانجو، تناول طعامك وإلا جاءتك ذئاب مانجو\".
