في هذه الرواية يتوغل الكاتب التونسي نصر بالحاج بالطيب في عمق الصحراء، يقتفي أثر الأسطورة والخرافة والحكايات الشعبية، بأسلوب سردي ممتع، ليرسم مسيرة الإنسان ومصيره في رحلة التيه المتكررة بين الميلاد والممات. وفي روايته الصادرة عن دار نقوش عربية يمضي الطبيب والكاتب بالحاج بالطيب في رحلة صحراوية خيالية يشخص فيها آفات الإنسان الذي لا يتعلم من الأخطاء والخطايا، بل يكررها. ويؤسس الكاتب لهذه الفكرة منذ السطور الأولى فيقول في المقدمة: \"كل اقتباس أو تشابه أو تناص مع أحداث التاريخ أو الخرافة أو الأسطورة مقصود، فالإنسان يعيد نفسه ويكررها في السطو والطمع والتعطش للدماء، لا فرق في ذلك بين أمة وأمة وبين عصر وعصر\".
