يحاول هذا الكتاب أن يعرض أهم الأسس الفكرية التي أنبنى عليها المشروع الغربي ما بعد الحداثي فيرصد الظروف التي أدت إلى ظهور نمط فكري جديد أطلق عليه ما بعد الحداثة كما يحاول الكتاب تتبع تجليات ومظاهر الفكر ما بعد الحداثي في الفنون المختلفة ثم يناقش الكتاب أهم أفكار فلاسفة ما بعد الحداثة وعلى رأسهم فلاسفة التيار الفرنسي جيل دولوز وميشال فوكو وجان بودريار وحينما ظهر مفهوم ما بعد الحداثة في بداية الأمر لم يكن ليحيل على فلسفة ولا ليعبر عن وعي بتحولات وإنما ليصف انتفاضة فنية تمثلت \"في معمار فانتيري وجونسون وموسيقى كايج وفن ورهول ورستشبرج وروايات بنشن وبالارد وأفلام مثل المخمل الأزرق وميتركس.
