تناول الكتاب حيث أنه عبارة عن نصوص أدبية شبيهة بالرسائل موجهة إلى شخص ما ويستهلها دائما بعبارة «صديقي العزيز» كلازمة يبدأ بها عرض مفاهيمه بلغة شاعرية وبسيطة يدخل فيها أحيانا العامية بطريقة شفافة ومناسبة، ويتضح من البداية موقف الشاعر من الأحداث المؤلمة في سورية بقوله «صديقي العزيز.. ولا علاقة لك بشيء اسمه ثورة فلم تفعل ذلك وتكاد تفقد صوابك عندما يقال لك ذلك مع أنها الحقيقة وتعرفها أكثر من الجميع». كما يوضح الشاعر في كتابه الذي يقع في 338 صفحة من القطع الصغير آراءه في الكتابة والشعر والأدب وما يؤمن به كمادة صالحة للكتابة وما هو غير صالح.
