تميز الكتاب بأنه يتناول حقبة الحداثة والشعر البريطاني حصرا وهذا يعني أنني استبعدت الشعر البريطاني الذي ظهرفي النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، واستبعدت أيضا الشعر الأمريكي الحديث، لأنه يحتاج إلى كتاب آخر من الحجم نفسه، على شعراء أكثر من غيرهم، والسبب في ذلك هو أن بعض الشعراء كانوا أكثر غزارة في يجد القارئ في هذا الكتاب تركيزا الشعر من غيرهم، أو ربما كانت لقصائد معينة نُشرت في حقبة الحداثة أصداء أكثر من غيرها.
