يتناول هذا الكتاب استكمالا لما سبقه من كتب، أدوار التجديد في الأغنية ما بعد التأسيس عند الملحن والمغني غازي علي (الستينيات)، ثم المغنية إبتسام لطفي السبعينيات)، ثم الملحن طلال (الثمانينيات)، ثم التحول من الأغنية السعودية إلى الخليجية وهذا انتقال على مستوى اقتصادي تدخلت فيه الصناعة والتقنية واجتماعي تدخلت فيه عناصر التراث والمعاصرة دخولا في القرن الواحد والعشرين، وفي هذا الكتاب طرح على مستوى بعض الأسئلة حول البدايات الأولى، سواء في الصيغة الحجازية أو النجدية، ومن ثم تتبع تجارب أسهمت على مدى نصف قرن في الانتقال إلى مرحلة الأغنية السعودية من مرحلة فنون الأداء والقول والحركة، على مستوى الأقاليم الريفية والصحراوية والجبلية والساحلية خارج الحواضر.
