يقول الكاتب لماذا كتبت هذا المختصر عن آل حميد وبيت الإمارة في بني خالد (آل عريعر) ؟ هناك أسباب كثيرة دفعتني لتحرير هذا المختصر عن بيت الإمارة في بني خالد، ومنها : أولا : يسألني الكثير من أبناء أسرة آل عريعر ومن غيرهم عما أعرفه عمن يشترك في عمود النسب أو يتسلسل من عريعر (عرعر) بن دجين بن سعدون بن محمد بن غرير آل حميد. ثانيا : اسم (عريعر) أطلق مجازا على جميع من تبقى من إمارة آل حميد وفروعها من آل غرير، ثالثا : الخلط الذي حصل لدى عامة الناس أن جميع آل حميد هم آل عريعر، رابعا : دعوى البعض بأن هناك عريعر غير عريعر بن دجين بن سعدون بن محمد وللجواب على السبب الرابع بشكل مختصر : لا يوجد عريعر من سلالة آل حميد بيت الإمارة يصح الانتساب له إلا عريعر بن دجين وكل انتساب آخر فهو غير صحيح ومردود على المدعي.
