يحاول هذا الكتاب رصد الزلازل من خلال تعريفها وتصنيفها والسير قدما لسبر أسباب حدوثها وتوصيف عناصرها الفيزيائية، ومن ثم معرفة كنه الموجات الزلزالية ومواقع تكرارها وطرق تحديد مراكزها والأجهزة المستخدمة لقياس شدتها وبالتالي آثارها العنيفة عبر توقع سيرورات حدوثها، كل ذلك يناقشه الكاتب بأسلوب علمي متناسق بالاعتماد على الكثير من المراجع العلمية التي شكلت قاعدة معلومات خاصة به انطلق منها لاستيفاء موضوع البحث وأساسياته دون إسهاب أو ابتذال وبلغة سلسة، مستخدما المصطلحات العلمية الشائعة ومرادفاتها، والأشكال التوضيحية كلما أملت الضرورة ذلك، فجاء البحث متكاملا والقارئ العادى.
