بحث هذا الكتاب المهم في الحروب التي يجري فيها القتال المسلح فعلا، كالحرب البرية والجوية وحرب الدبابات وحرب الصواريخ والحرب النووية إلخ... ثم يتحدث عن صفات تلك الحروب، مثل التقليدية والشاملة والمحدودة والنظيفة، ثم علاقة الحروب بالسياسة، وهل هناك شيء اسمه الحروب السياسية مثل الحرب الاستعمارية وحرب الاستقلال والحرب الأهلية والحرب الثورية والحرب الشعبية، ثم يفصل في الحروب التي لها تأثير على فكر الإنسان وروحه المعنوية والنفسية مثل الحروب الفكرية كحرب الإذاعة والأعصاب والإعلامية والعقل والحرب النفسية وحرب المعلومات، ثم ينتقل إلى الحروب العلمية والاقتصادية مثل حروب الإشعاعات والتقنية وحرب النجوم، والحرب الاقتصادية، وحرب الغذاء الغاية من هذا الكتاب إطلاع أفراد وضباط وقادة الجيوش وكذلك المدنيين على الحروب كافة والتي يكاد يبلغ عددها أكثر من 110 لتكوين صورة عن هذه الحروب.
