وهذا الكتاب يعد أحد المساهمات التي تعالج جوانب التاريخ السياسي والحضاري لليمن في فترة محددة وهو عبارة عن قسمين أحدهما القسم السياسي ويشمل عدة بحوث أعدها الباحث خلال عمله في جامعة صنعاء كمدرس للتاريخ الإسلامي، وثانيهما القسم الحضاري وهو عبارة عن دراسة قدمت لجامعة القاهرة لنيل درجة الدكتوراه في التاريخ نوقشت سنة 1990م تحت عنوان (مظاهر الحضارة الدول المستقلة في اليمن من سنة (439) -626 هـ / 1047 - 1228 م)
