يتكلم الكتاب عن الحساب الفلكي الشرعي في معرفة أوائل الشهور القمرية ويشرح عنها نظريا ورأي الشرع فيها والاختيار الشرعي في الحساب الفلكي، يوفق الكتاب بين الشرع والعلم الفلكي، ويحسب أوائل الشهور القمرية لكل من (رمضان، شوال، ذي الحجة)، أي أنه يحسب (بداية شهر رمضان، وعيد الفطر وعيد الأضحى) لخمسين سنة، من عام 2001 إلى عام 2050 م.
