مفهوم المخطوطات المطوية اعتدنا في الأعوام التي سبقت سنة 2008 ميلادية، أن تقيم معارض مصاحبة للمؤتمرات الدولية التي نعقدها في الربيع من كل عام، على سبيل التعريف بالمخطوطات التي يناقشها هذا المؤتمر أو ذاك. وعند نشر بحوث المؤتمر وأوراقه، نضع في الكتاب المجلد ملزمة مصورة، أو اثنتين، لتقديم نماذج مختارة مما احتواه المعرض المصاحب للمؤتمر .. فعلنا ذلك في مؤتمرات المخطوطات \"الألفية، الموقعة، الشارحة، المترجمة\" ولكننا لم نجد سبيلا إلى ذلك عند انعقاد المؤتمر الذي يضم هذا المجلد بحوثه، لأن موضوعه كان المخطوطات المطوية المخفية، الضائعة .. ومع ذلك، فسوف نجد في أثناء الصفحات، بعض النماذج الخطية، التي استعان بها أصحاب البحوث في أوراقهم، لكنها لم تكف لعمل المعرض أثناء المؤتمر، ولإفراد قسم مصور مثلما هو الحال في المجلدات الأربعة التي سبق إصدارها.
