هناك ارتباط قدري بين أي ثورة والسياق التاريخي المحدد لها ؛ لذا جاءت أبواب الكتاب الثلاثة نتاجا طبيعيا لهذه الرؤية الحتمية ؛ إذ كان لابد من تقديم الرؤية المصرية لكل التحولات العالمية التي تحدث حولها كخطوة أساسية لفهم السياق التاريخي الذي حدثت فيه ثورة 25 يناير، وذلك في الباب الأول. بينما خصص الباب الثاني لمعالجة نظرية التحول الديموقراطي وثغرات ذلك التحول عندما حاولت هذه الثورة تفكيك أركان النظام السياسي الاستبدادي السابق ومقاومته للإصلاحات الديموقراطية الضرورية، أما الباب الثالث والأخير فقد خصصه المؤلف لمتابعة أحداث الثورة نفسها للكشف عن أسباب قيامها ودلالاتها ومستقبل التوجه الديموقراطي في مصر.
