هذا الكتاب يحتوي على صفوة طيبة من الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، وقد اختارها مؤرخ الهند الكبير ومحدثها الجليل العلامة الشيخ عبد الحي بن فخر الدين الحسنى (والد العلامة أبي الحسن علي الحسنى الندوي) -رحمهما الله- من كتب الحديث الستة مراعين فيه صحتها، وقد اشتملت هذه الأحاديث على ما يصلح أن يكون طريق لصاحبه إلى الآخرة، ومحصلا لآدابه الباطنة والظاهرة، وجامعا لأمور الترغيب والترهيب، وتهذيب الأخلاق، وطهارات القلوب وعلاجها، وتزكية الظاهر والباطن. وقد سمى المؤلف كتابه \"تلخيص الأخبار\" ثم عنونه نجله العلامة أبو الحسن الندوي بتهذيب الأخلاق، واشتهر بهذا العنوان، وقد طبع الكتاب عدة مرات في الهند وخارجها، وأدخل في المقررات الدراسية للعهد الثانوي الشرعي التابع لدار العلوم -ندوة العلماء-، يوم صدر الكتاب أول مرة عام 1392 هـ.، بعد مراجعة الشيخ أبي الحسن الندوي-رحمه الله-وتقديمه له. وقد حقق الكتاب تحقيقا جيدا، قام فيه المحقق بما لا بد منه.
