يتناول كتاب (أخبار عمر وأخبار عبد الله بن عمر) والذي قام بتأليفه علي الطنطاوي، موضوع (أخبار عمر) الكتاب يقدم تاريخ موجز عن حياة عمر بن الخطاب في الجاهلية، ثم مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وإسلامه وهجرته وصحبته مع أبي بكر، ويتطرق إلى \"عمر أمير المؤمنين\" و \"عمر الأديب\" وخطبه وكتبه ومعاهداته ووصاياه وكلماته وعنه مع الشعر والشعراء، وعن صفاته الشخصية مع الصحابة ومع الناس، ومناقبه وإصابة رأيه وفراساته وكراماته، وأخيرا عن مقتله. وقد ختم الكتاب بجزء عن عبد الله بن عمر يستعرض فيه شخصيته وعبادته وزهده وورعه، وموقفه في الفتنة وأقواله وكلماته وأسرته وأولاده وأخبار متفرقة عنه.
