يستعرض الكتاب طرق التعليم الطبي الحديثة التي تعتمد في الأساس على الطالب، وتنمية قدرته التحصيلية باستخدام مصادر التعليم المتاحة على الإنترنت وبالمناقشات الفعالة مع المعلمين، والزملاء، وباستخدام برامج المحاكاة، ومن خلال مجموعات التعلم السريرية الصغيرة، وقد تم تخصيص بعض الفصول لطرق تقييم الطلاب الحديثة وكيفية بناء الأسئلة، ووضع الاختبارات بطريقة تقيم الطلاب فعليا، وتميز بين مستويات الطلاب، وركزت بعض الفصول على تشجيع الطلاب والمتدربين على كتابة انطباعاتهم السلبية والإيجابية وتقديم تغذية راجعة في ختام كل دورة تدريبية واقتراحاتهم لتحسين مستوى الدورة وتلافي السلبيات، وقد تم تخصيص فصل بالكتاب لتنمية الاحترافية لدى الطلاب وطرق التعامل مع المرضى والاهتمام بهم والتعاطف معهم، وفصل آخر لكيفية التعامل مع الطلاب الذين يواجهون صعوبات أثناء مسارهم التعليمي.
