تحفل مخطوطات الأدب والتاريخ والعلوم الإسلامية بالعديد من صور وأشكال المخلوقات المركبة والغريبة، ومنها مخطوطة كتاب \"عجائب المخلوقات وغرائب الموجودات للقزويني\"، المزوقة بكثير من المنمنمات التي تصور كائنات غرائبية مؤلفة من أجزاء وأعضاء متنوعة وعلى صور غريبة وأشكال عجيبة، ففي الكون أسرار وألغاز يستعصي على العقل البشري فهمها والإحاطة بها جميعا فالشخص المدرك من موجودات وحقائق العالم ليس وحده الموجود وليس هو غاية ونهاية الخلق الرباني ولا ينفي العلم إمكانية ظهور حقائق وأشياء وكائنات أخرى غير التي نعرفها، وعليه فإن العالم الذي نعرفه ونبصره ليس هو العالم الوحيد الذي يمكن تصوره بل إن بالإمكان تصور كائنات أخرى قد تأتي على أشكال مغايرة وتراكيب مختلفة وثمة عوالم أخرى لا يمكن بلوغها وإدراكها إلا بالعقل والبصيرة النافذة.
