يتكون هذا الكتاب من ثلاث فصول، يتناول الفصل الاول مدخل الى صعوبات التعلم بشكل عام وصعوبات التعلم النمائية والاكاديمية لدى الاطفال، اما الفصل الثاني فيعرض خلاله مفهوم القراءة واهميتها ومراحل اكتسابها حتى يتسنى للقارئ فهم مراحل تعلم القراءة واستراتيجيات اكتساب هذه المهارة ثم يعرض المظاهر والاعراض الخاصة بصعوبات التعلم وكيفية تشخيصها لدى الاطفال، وفي الفصل الثالث يتم عرض برامج واستراتيجيات ونماذج مختلفة كمحاولة للتدخل المبكر بالعلاج لصعوبات تعلم القراءة لدى الاطفال.
