هذا الكتاب مستقى من البرنامج التلفزيوني (عبق الماضي) الذي أعده د. عبد الله علي الطابور سنة 1417هـ-1997م، وأنتجه تلفزيون الإمارات العربية المتحدة من الشارقة، وهو يسرد سيرة خمس عشرة شخصية من أوائل المثقفين في الإمارات، سيرة الجيل الأول من رجالات البلد المتعلمين الذين خلفوا لنا ميرائا جديرا بنا أن نقدمه في كتاب تقرؤه الأجيال ويتعرفون خلاله بالصفوة من الجيل المثقف الذين ظهروا في مطلع القرن الماضي. من. ويتميز هذا الكتاب بأنه يحتوي على روايات وردت في البرنامج المذكور، وجرت معالجتها في هذا الكتاب، وهي معلومات جديدة تضاف إلى سـيـرة (رجال في تاريخ الإمارات)، وهو مشروع أنجزه .د. عبدالله الطابور، وظهر في عدة أجزاء تصدر تباعا.
