Overview
قلعة القطيف أو حاضرة القطيف أو قصبة القطيف أو مدينة القطيف المحصنة أو الفرضة أو المحفوظة هي قلعة أثرية تقع على مرتفع من الأرض في قلب مدينة القطيف، شرق المملكة العربية السعودية. يرجع تاريخ بناء قلعة القطيف إلى القرن الثالث الميلادي على يد الساسانيين، واتخذها العثمانيون من بعدهم قاعدة عسكرية ونقطة دفاعية في الخليج العربي بعد ترميمهم لها في القرن السابع عشر الميلادي سنة 1630 م / 1039 هـ، وأصبحت بعدها مستودعا للبضائع وفي وقت لاحق مقرا للسكن. كان بداخل القلعة أحد عشر مسجدا إضافة إلى قصر البلاط الملكي وقصور الضيافة وحظائر المواشي جميعها محاطة بسور منيع. هدمت قلعة القطيف في ثمانينات القرن العشرين، حيث انتزعت ملكية القلعة من الأهالي وأزيلت المنازل والمباني من الأحياء بالتدريج في الثمانينيات إلى أن أزيلت تماما وتحولت إلى ميدان ومواقف سيارات، لم يتبق من القلعة سوى 18 منزلا متهالكا.
