يتناول هذا الكتاب السيرة الحياتية للدكتورة عائشة المانع من ولادتها في مدينة الخبر وإلى تأسيسها كلية محمد المانع للعلوم الطبية، أحد صروح المعرفة بالمنطقة الشرقية، مرورا بما شهده المجتمع السعودي من تحولات ثقافية واجتماعية، عاصرتها المؤلفة وكانت شاهدة عليها. توقفت الكاتبة في البدء عند والدها المترجم والمؤرخ ورجل الأعمال، مثمنة له دوره ودعمه الكبير في مسيرتها العلمية والعملية. كما وثقت وبشيء من التفصيل دراستها المبكرة بالمدرسة الإنكليزية في الإسكندرية، ومن ثم عملها كأول مديرة مدرسة ابتدائية في الدمام، لتواصل تعليمها الجامعي في لبنان ثم في أميركا.
