إن كتاب مدارات السرود الروائية الخليجية بأجزائه السبعة يستعرض حصاد ما ينوف عن عشرين سنة من تتبع للحركة الروائية بمنطقة الخليج العربي التي كانت تعد في عرف كثير من مؤرخي الأدب ونقده منطقة عاجزة عن استنبات الرواية ؛ فهي بنظرهم لا يمكن أن تحتضن في رمالها إلا الشعر النبطي، ولكن المشهد الأدبي الراهن بهذه المنطقة يؤكد بما لا يدع مجالا للشك أن هذه المنطقة لا تنبت الشعر وحده بسائر ألوانه الفصيحة والكلاسيكية والرومانسية والواقعية والحداثية حسب، ولكنها تنبت سائر الأنواع الأدبية الأخرى، وخاصة نوع الرواية الذي أينع وأتى أكله في كثير من أعمال عدد كبير من الكتاب الخليجيين الذين تسلقوا هرم السرديات العربية وباتت أعمالهم تقرأ وتترجم إلى اللغات الحية وتحصد الجوائز المرموقة.
