قصائد هذا الكتاب تمت ترجمتها عن ترجمة إسبانية مرفقة بالأصل البرتغالي. القصائد تضم معظم ما كتبه ألبرتو كاييرو (إحدى الذوات الأخرى الرئيسية الثلاث لشاعر البرتغال الأشهر في القرن العشرين فرناندو بيسوا وخصوصا قصيدتيه الطويلتين «راعي القطيع» و «الراعي العاشق.» يبدو كاييرو كأنه يتحدث لا كأنه يكتب»، بل إنه يبدو كأنه يتحدث إلى صديق، أو كأنه يفكر بصوت مسموع. إذ لا نكاد نعثر على كلمات قاموسية من تلك الكلمات التي لا نجدها عادة إلا في الكتب، تلك الكلمات التي نراها» ولا نسمعها». فلغة الشاعر هي مما يجري على ألسن الناس يوميا.
