Overview
يعالج هذا الكتاب فيما يعالج الأسس البتروجرافية والجيولوجية الرئيسية للدراسات الطبيعية الجغرافية، وذلك في ثمانية فصول : يعالج الأول نشأة الأرض كفرد في المجموعة الشمسية ومختلف النظريات التي تفسر تلك النشأة. أما الفصل الثاني فيختص بدراسة التركيب الصخري لقشرة الأرض. ويختص الفصل الثالث بدراسة للقوى الداخلية، البطيء منها والسريع، والتي تؤثر في تشكيل سطح الأرض. ويحوي الفصل الرابع دراسة للقوى الخارجية (عوامل التعرية) وأثرها في تشكيل وجه ومحاولات تفسير هذا الأرض. أما الفصل الخامس فيدرس توزيع اليابس والماء كما نراه حاليا التوزيع، يتبعه فصل عن النظريات الجيوتكتونية التي تفيد الجغرافي في التعرف على مختلف الآراء ووجهات النظر في تفسير ظاهرات سطح الأرض، وتعالج الفصول الأخيرة من هذا الكتاب الحقائق الهامة الخاصة بتضاريس سطح الأرض.
