يأخذ الروائي كريم عبد الله من خلال روايته \"ما لم يقله سيزيف في مذكراته المجنونة\" على عاتقه دور المؤرخ، ليروي لنا أحداث من تاريخ العراق الحديث، فمن أجواء حرب الثمان سنوات وهي الحرب التي اندلعت بين العراق وإيران للفترة من 1980 إلى 1988، وسماها الغرب حرب الاحتواء المزدوج أي أنها لاستنزاف البلدين الجارين المسلمين، مرورا بحرب الخليج الأولى والانتفاضة الشعبانية وانتهاء بالغزو الأميركي للعراق ؛ الرواية تاريخية بامتياز، حيث أخذ الكاتب على عاتقه مهمة سرد أحداث تاريخية، ولكن من مكان واحد، ألا وهو مستشفى للأمراض العقلية والنفسية، وكيف تعامل كل من كان في ذلك المكان من أطباء وعاملين ومرضى مع هذه الأحداث.
