تتحرك رواية «الغريبة» ضمن فضاء زمني يمتد من سنة 1978 إلى مطالع الألفية الثالثة، وتدور أحداثها بين مدينتين آسفي مسقط رأس «ليلى» ومهوى روحها، وشجن حنينها واشتياقها إلى رفيقاتها ؛ وإلى «إيفون» صديقة عمرها على وجه الخصوص حيث توثقت عرى صداقتهما، واقتسمتا أحداث حياتهما الصغرى والكبرى، الحلوة والمرة، ومدينة الرباط التي ظلت\"ليلى\" تشعر رغم مقامها الطويل بها بأنها غريبة أكثر مما كانت عليه عندما حلت بها أول مرة، وهي لاتزال تتذكر تماما ذلك اليوم البعيد بحره الخانق حين رحلت غير نادمة وبحماس المراهقة عن آسفي، المدينة التي رأت فيها النور، لتعيش بجوار زوجها في المدينة الكبرى.
