يركز موضوع الكتاب حول العلاقة السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية بين كل من الكويت وعمان والتي اتصلت مباشرة بالموانئ البحرية-إن صح القول كنتيجة لموقع كل من الكويت وعمان على ساحل الخليج العربي، الأمر الذي جعل التواصل فيما بينهما قائم على سلسلة من التعاملات التجارية البحرية التي كان ربما هدفها الأكبر الوصول إلى المحيط الهندي، وبهذا فتعد عمان ومن خلال مسقط تحديدا بوابة عبور مهمة إلى سواحل المحيط الهندي والشرق الأفريقي.
