هذا الكتاب يؤرخ لحملة لا يعلم الكثير عنها شيئا ؛ حملة غيرت وجه التاريخ العربي والإسلامي، تألفت من شعوب شتى وهدف واحد هو احتلال القدس. فلم تسقط القدس بعد هزيمة 67، ولم يكن سقوطها بعد قرار التقسيم وإعلان قيام إسرائيل على أرض فلسطين عام 48 ؛ بل سقطت القدس يوم دخلتها بريطانيا في ظلال الحرب العالمية وعلى أسنة حراب أعلنت أنها آخر حرب صليبية. وفي الوقت الذي دارت فيه حرب الخنادق بكل بشاعتها لتسحق الملايين في الجبهة الغربية على أرض أوروبا ؛ كانت هناك جبهة أخرى تدور عليها رحى حرب ستغير مشهد مكان شاسع من العالم، في دراما ما زالت مستمرة حتى يومنا هذا. فالشرق برمته كان على موعد مع حرب اشتعلت على أرض مصر وفلسطين، واحترق أبناؤه في رحاها، وألقت بظلالها عليه، وما زال يتجرع ثمارها. حرب كان هدفها الأرض المقدسة في فلسطين، وتسببت في نقلها من بين أيدي أصحابها الأصليين إلى أيد غريبة أخرى ومازالت إلى الآن تغيرا في ثوابتها وتطمس هويتها وتذبح شعبها.
