يتناول هذا الكتاب حالة مملكة الحجاز وفق إطار تاريخي محدد (1916-1925 م). حيث واجهت هذه المملكة العديد من المشاكل طوال فترة وجودها، والتي لم يتم حلها، مما أدى إلى زوال المملكة في نهاية المطاف، سيكون التركيز في هذا البحث منصبا على السنوات الحاسمة من عام 1919 م إلى عام 1924 م، حيث واجهت المملكة خلال تلك الفترة صعوبات داخلية وخارجية. أدى التعامل مع هذه الصعوبات من قبل الشريف حسين إلى زيادة مشاكله والتسبب في خسارة الدولة الصراعها من أجل البقاء.
