يتناول الكتاب الإتيكيت فهو ليس ترفا ؛ إنما هو آداب مستحقة في المأكل والملبس، غايتها إظهار الجوهر من خلال المظهر؛ فسلوك الإنسان هو شخصيته، وطريقة تعامله مع الآخرين ترسم صورته، كيف يتحدث، وكيف يأكل، وكيف يلبس، سواء كان مضيفا أو ضيفا. والإتيكيت ليس مستوردا فهو من أصل ثقافتنا، هو السمت والسنع المتوارث من الأجداد، قالت العرب \"تحدث لأراك\"، والإسلام جاء ليتمم مكارم الأخلاق، وآداب السلوك ؛ لذلك حث القرآن \" واقصد في مشيك، واغضض من صوتك\"، ولذلك كذلك قال النبي الأكرم في أدب المؤاكلة \"كل مما يليك\". وطالما أن البشر-رغم تنوع ثقافتهم - يتشابهون في عواطفهم حيال سلوك المجالس، ولأن المرأة العربية تستحق من السلوك أرقاه، جاءت هذه الأجوبة على أسئلة مفترضة، سعيت أن تغطي كافة جوانب الحياة الاجتماعية التي قد تتعرض لها الضيفة والمضيفة على حد سواء. يمكن للمرأة أن تنتفع بها على حسب الظرف الاجتماعي، على أن يكون المغزى عدم إيذاء الآخرين في المسلك العام، والظهور بأبهى حلة، في رقيها الشكلي، وأدائها الأخلاقي.
