حال كافكا كحال الكثير من الكتاب والمفكرين الذين رحلوا وتركوا من وراءهم منشغلا بأعمالهم وقد ظل كافكا لغزا عصيا على الحل بالنسبة للكثيرين الذين تصدوا لدراسة أعماله وحاولوا تحديد هويته, وقد ذهب البعض من هؤلاء إلى أن كتابات كافكا تلتقي مع المقولات الصهيونية وبأن أعماله تحوي رموزا صهيونية واضحة من هنا جاءت محاولة مؤلفة هذا الكتاب التي رأت أن هذا إجحاف بحق كافكا فلا بأس أن يطرح على أنه أديب يهودي لكنها سعت إلى دراسة أدب كافكا دراسة تحليلية سعيا وراء استجلاء أبرز ما فسر على أنه إشارات ومعان ورموز صهيونية في أدبه وهي تفعل ذلك بوحي من شعورها بخطورة التطوع لضم شخصية أدبية مرموقة إلى صفوف الصهيونية.
