يجمع المحقق \"مصطفى عبد القادر عطا\" بين طيات هذا الكتاب رسالتين العالمين بارزين من أعلام الفكر الإسلامي هما \"أبو عبد الله الحراث بن أسد المحاسبي\" و \"محمد بن محمد الغزالي\" تدور موضوع هاتين الرسالتين حول شرف العقل وماهيته وشروطه وحقيقته، وأقسامه، وشروط العاقل، وأخلاق العقلاء عند الله ومنازل العقل عن الله، ودسائس النفس في ذلك، وغير ذلك من الموضوعات، وهدف المحقق من الجمع بين الرسالتين هو مساعدة الباحث والمطلع على الإحاطة بموضوع العقل وماهيته من جميع جوانبه، هذا وتجلى عمل في كلا الرسالتين أولا : تخريج الأحاديث النبوية مع الحكم عليها من خلال آراء وأقوال علماء الحديث، وثانيا : تخريج الآيات القرآنية ومراجعتها على المصحف، ثالثا : وضع ترجمتين للغزالي والمحاسبي.
