هذا كتاب أخبار العققة والبررة ألفه أبو عبيدة معمر بن المثنى المتوفى سنة 210هجري ورواه أبو غسان رفيع بن مسلم العبدي. وهو يحكي قصة أقوام عقوا آبائهم فعاتبوهم على عقوقهم إياهم بقوم بروا آبائهم. وآخرون هاجروا من البادية إلى الحضر والأمصار وتركوا آبائهم فاشتاقوا إلى أولادهم فقالوا في ذلك شعرا وكان أبو عبيدة يبغض العرب ويطعن في أنسابهم ويمجد الفرس ويعلي من شأنهم وكتابنا هذا \"أخبار العققة والبررة\" لعل مما دفع أبا عبيدة إلى تأليفه ما فيه من رائحة الهجو للعرب الذين عرفوا قديما بالبر والوفاء.
