يتناول الكتاب حياة الملك فاروق حيث أنه كان حاكم مصر العاشر من أسرة محمد علي، اعتلى العرش بعد وفاه والده فؤاد الأول عام 1936 وحكم مصر والسودان حتى أطاح به الانقلاب العسكري عام 1952. بعد تنازله عن العرش لابنه احمد فؤاد الثاني، أقام في منفاه بروما، وكان يزور منها سويسرا وفرنسا، إلى أن توفي في روما في 18 مارس 1965 ودفن أولا في مقابر إبراهيم باشا في منطقة الإمام الشافعي ثم نقلت رفاته في عهد الرئيس محمد أنور السادات إلى المقبرة الملكية بمسجد الرفاعي بالقاهرة تنفيذا لوصيته.
