يتناول كتاب (مركز أبحاث وتربية الأحياء البحرية) والذي قام بتأليفه وزارة الزراعة والثروة السمكية دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، موضوع (دليل) هذا الكتاب للتعريف بطبيعة عمل وأهداف مركز أبحاث وتربية الأحياء المائية بأم القيوين. الذي إنشئ في إطار اتفاقية التعاون الفني عام 1978، المبرمة بين حكومة دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ممثلة بوزارة الزراعة والثروة السمكية والحكومة اليابانية، ممثلة بالوكالة اليابانية للتعاون الدولي \"جايكا\". وذلك بعد مسوح ودراسات والتي تم على أساسها خور أم القيوين الذي يتميز باتساعه ونظافته، وكثرة أشجار القرم التي تعتبر ملجأ مناسبا لتكاثر الأسماك خاصة الأصناف الجيدة منها الصافي والبياح والروبيان.
