الكتاب يحدثنا عن شجرة الغاف من خلال أبحاث قام بها مجموعة من الباحثين، ويكشفوا عن أهمية شجر الغاف، وأن بإمكانه أن يحول مناطق جافة جرداء خالية من النبت إلى مواقع خضراء، وذات انتاجية عالية في أشد الأشهر جفافا حتى في السنوات شديدة الجفاف، وهو يحسن بشكل واضح ومتعمق المناخ الموضعي، كما يساهم في تثبيت الكثبان الرملية ويحيلها إلى مواقع زراعية تتمتع بمردود اقتصادي مناسب، ويعتبر هذا النوع من الأكثر ملاءمة لإنشاء الغابات الاصطناعية ضمن المدن وفي محيطها بالمناطق الجافة وشبه الجافة.
