كان من الممكن أن يصبح أدب الرحلات جنسا أدبيا خالصا، له قواعده الفنية وأصوله التي يمكن من خلالها أن يصبح جنسا مستقلا بذاته، لكنني أرى قلة الدراسات النقدية حول أدب الرحلات على كثرة الكتابة فيه، هي من أخلت بتطور الكتابة والنقد فيه على حد سواء. ولعل مثل هذه الدراسات النقدية والوصفية بالتأكيد تزيد من القيمة الأدبية والعملية في تقعيد القواعد والأصول التي يلتزم بها الكاتب لأدب الرحلات، كل ذلك من شأنه أن يبلور مثل هذا النوع من الأدب، ليصبح أدبا مستقلا بذاته كأي جنسٍ أدبي آخر من أنواع الأدب، فيحتل مكانة فنية بين الأجناس الأدبية الأخرى، بذا نثري مكبتنا الأدبية بالدراسات النقدية والمؤلفات في أدب الرحلات.
