كانت ثورة الشواف في الموصل حدثا كبيرا في درب النضال العربي، أوضحت للعالم وللأجيال كلها بأن الشعب العربي لن يرضخ للضيم ولن يستكين لجور، وأن قوافل شهدائه لن تتوقف حتى ينال العيش حرا. وقد قيل في ثورة الشواف الكثير إلا أن بعض ما قيل لم يكن على مستوى التوثيق والحقيقة التي لا تشوبها الأهواء والأغراض. فكان أن انبرى العميد المتقاعد خليل ابراهيم حسين ليكشف بدقة المؤرخ ونصوع الوثيقة عن خفايا ودقائق ثورة الشواف في الموصل.
