رواية \"ملاك الجحيم\" هي آخر رواية كتبها الروائي الأرجنتيني \"ارنستو ساباتو\"، وهي من الروايات التي يصعب تلخيصها فهي مليئة بالأحداث المتشابكة، والمشاهد المتقطعة، وتتراكم فيها المشاهد المثيرة للرعب، والتي تشكلت في كوابيس مخيفة لا تخرج من ذاكرة قارئها ولا تفارق بصيرة مشاهدها ، ولأن \"ساباتو\" ليس متصالحا مع واقعه، ولأنه يرفض هذا العصر الذى حول الإنسان إلى أداة تستهلك منتجات العصر ذاته، حول عالمه الروائي إلى كابوس يملا صاحبه رعبا، فهنا عصابة للتزوير، وهناك أخرى للتهريب، وبينهما عصابة لارتكاب الموبقات وأهونها القتل بدون عذاب، ومن حول هذه وتلك عرافات ومشعوذون ونساء يسترقن النظرة شهوة إلى الجنس بعيون مفترسة متوحشة.
