في هذا الكتاب يعرض لنا المؤلفان فلسفة المرض ونظريته، وينظران إليه من زاوية أخرى ومستوى آخر، ويحاولان، قدر الإمكان، تعليمنا كيف نفهم لغة الأعراض المرضية، وكيف نستفسرها ونفهم رسالتها، فالمرض يجعل الإنسان صادقا رغما عنه، لأنه- أي المرض - يصدقنا القول دائما، ويعرينا أمام أنفسنا دون مواربة أو رباء. إنه رسالة إلى وعينا تمر عبر جسدنا. وعندما نفهم هذه الرسالة وندخل مضمونها إلى نور وعينا، يفقد العرض المرضي مبرر وجوده. لذا يمكن القول إن المرض ليس خطرا داهما، بل رفيق درب، ينبغي لنا الاستفادة منه على طريق السلامة والكمال.
