يروي الأبشيهي في كتابة المستطرف من كل فن مستظرف قصة أمير أمر خياطا مشهورا بصناعة قباء له من نسيج جميل ثمين لا يوجد مثيل له وكما كان هذا الخياط ماهرا ومتفوقا في صنعته كان أيضا ماهر ومتفوقا في سرقة النسيج من زبائنه هذه الطرفة السريعة تلخص لنا كل المبادئ الأساسية في الكتابة الكوميدية الخياط شخصية نمطية ذات صفات محددة الموقف متأزم يتصاعد فيه التوتر عبر مراقبة الأمير ورغبة الخياط في السرقة ليس فقط للحصول على جزء من النسيج الثمين ولكن أيضا لإثبات مهارته وتفوقه على هذا المراقب الكؤود وأخيرا حيلة ناجحة تمثل انتصارا للشخصية الكوميدية وتفجر الكوميديا داخل الموقف الضرطة التي أصدرها الخياط وأدت لضحك الأمير وإغفاله المراقبة وبعدئذ الختام في شكل النكتة اللفظية السريعة.
