هذا هو الكتاب الأول الذي يصدر بالعربية عن هذا المخرج الأمريكي المثقف وفيه يتم تناول ثلاث موضوعات رئيسة الحياة، الأفلام، العمل. وهي تبدو عناوين مستقلة للوهلة الأولى. ولكن سكورسيزي يقدم شغفه بالسينما من خلال علاقة حية، وهو يبحث عن الإلهام في أفلام الآخرين الكبار الذي يجيء على ذكرهم في هذا الكتاب. مسراتي كسينمائي يحكي فصولا شيقة من عشق المخرج الأمريكي الكبير للسينما، لأنه يتغذى من رغبته بأن يصنع السينما كما هي السينما، وأي سينما تلك التي تشير إلى مسراته في الليل وفي النهار وفي ساعات الصحو والمنام ..!!؟
