يقول المؤلف : أضع كتابا عن السهروردي، على إيجازه، يكون محيطا بحياته وأفكاره الفلسفية وإبداعاته الفريدة المتميزة في الشعر والنثر؛ وبخاصة وأن أغلب مؤلفاته أنجزها في حلب، وأن أعماله تدل على ثقافة موسوعية شاملة، وفكر دقيق البحث، وأن إبداعاته تحمل في طيها فلسفته، في حلل من الأصالة والحداثة معا، وبذلك أفيه بعض حقه على هذه المدينة التي شهدت مأساته على حزن، وهو الذي لقي من اهتمام الباحثين الغربيين ما لم يلقه إلا القليل من أعلامنا.
