تناول الدكتور محمد سيرة اليافي ومولده عام 1936 في مدينة حمص وقد صقل ثقافته المدرسية بحلقات المساجد العلمية فيها فتعرف على كتب أدبية قيمة مثل \"شرح شذور الذهب في معرفة كلام العرب\" لابن هشام الأنصاري ثم درس اللغة العربية في جامعة دمشق لينتقل إلى جامعة القاهرة وينال درجة الماجستير في دراسة القصة والدكتوراه في دراسة الشعر العربي المعاصر ثم عمل مدرسا في جامعات حلب ودمشق والكويت ليفارق الحياة عام 2003.
