التراث الشعبي «الفولكور» هو ما يحفظه الشعب في ذاكرته، ووجدانه الشعبي من أغان وحكايات، وأمثال، وتشبيهات، وكنايات، ومعتقدات، وعادات، وتقاليد وغير ذلك من المأثورات الشعبية الشفاهية. وهناك القسم الثاني منه وهو التراث الشعبي المادي الذي يرثه الشعب عن الأجداد بشكل عادي، ويضم أشياء كثيرة، من جملتها أدوات العمل كلها، الأشكال الفنية التي ترسم على الأزياء والعمارات، وفنون الرقص... إلى آخر ما هنالك من تراث شعبي مادي.
